Frequently Asked Questions

Walton VetCare is committed to helping pet owners feel informed, supported, and prepared for their pets’ healthcare needs. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive from clients.

K
L
Are there emergency or after-hours services available?

We have daily appointment slots for urgent needs which fill up quickly. For these appointment slots, clients should call before 8:30 AM. For true emergencies, we will assist as much as possible but may recommend an emergency clinic for severe cases as we are not set up or staffed for 24-hour or after-hours care. We have listed emergency clinic options on our site.

K
L
Is Walton VetCare accepting new clients and patients?

Yes. We are accepting new clients and patients at this time. Please call to set up an account or add a new pet.

Does Walton VetCare offer grooming or boarding services?
Our clinic focuses on medical services and is not set up to offer grooming. Future plans are to expand to offer boarding, but we do not offer boarding at this time.

How do I request a prescription refill?

Prescription requests may be made by contacting our office directly, through our PetDesk App, or through our online pharmacy (Vetsource). We will contact you when your prescription is available for pickup. Please allow 24 hours for prescription refills.

K

Are payment plans available?

We do not offer payment plans. Full payment is due at time of service. We do accept CareCredit.

K

Do you microchip pets?

We do microchip pets. Call to schedule a time to bring your pet in to be microchipped.

Microchips do not track your pet. The chip allows a pet to be scanned, and the number can be used to locate the owner.

How often do dogs really need shots?

Not every year for every vaccination! The core vaccinations for distemper and rabies are now given on a 3-year schedule after the initial puppy series and one-year booster. Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and Leptospirosis are needed annually.

Is a Heartworm test necessary every year?

It is recommended to have a heartworm test every year. Even if your dog is on prevention, missed doses happen. If your dog tests positive, manufacturers of heartworm medications will often cover treatment costs if you have documentation of annual negative tests and the purchase of prevention. It is a safety net worth the cost.
