Puppy & Kitten Care
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is exciting, but it also comes with important healthcare decisions during the first year of life. Below are answers to common questions about vaccinations, preventive care, nutrition, and early veterinary visits.
Puppy & Kitten Care FAQs
When should I schedule my puppy or kitten’s first veterinary appointment?
It is recommended to schedule your puppy or kitten’s first veterinary visit between 6 and 8 weeks of age.
What happens during a puppy or kitten wellness exam?
During a wellness visit, our veterinarian will perform a comprehensive physical examination and discuss vaccinations, parasite prevention, diet, growth, socialization, and development. We will also recommend scheduling your next appointments for boosters and/or preventatives.
Why are vaccinations important for puppies and kittens?
Young pets are especially vulnerable to contagious illnesses before their immune systems are fully developed. Vaccinations help protect puppies and kittens from serious diseases while supporting safer socialization and healthier development during the early stages of life.
